On June 10th, 2019, 3rd Year students studying Global Issues and 2nd year Global Course students had the exciting honor of participating in a Skype communication session with the man who convinced the United Nations to establish an official day for peace. In lessons focused on peace and conflict leading up to the session in Global Issues, students were introduced to Mr. Gilley through his online TED Talk. In the session, volunteer asked Jeremy questions related to his idea of peace and how we could possibly realize a peaceful world. Jeremy stated time and again throughout the session that we can all play our part in making this world a more peaceful place and asked for participation in making International Peace Day, September 21st, more widely known among Japanese people.

グローバルコース2年、3年生及び、3年中高一貫コース「グローバルイシューズ」受講生は、2019年6月10日ジェレミー・ギリ―さんと、スカイプセッションを行いました。ジェレミーさんは、「平和の日」を公式な日として制定するため、国連に働きかけた偉大な方です。
質疑応答では、生徒たちからジェレミーさんの平和に関する考え方や、どのようにして平和な世界を作っていくことができるかという質問がでました。ジェレミーさんからは「私たちすべての人々が、より平和な世界を作るその役割を担っている」「9月21日国際平和の日をもっと日本の方々に知ってもらい、そして参加をしてもらうことが、その第一歩である」という答えをいただきました。
グローバルイシューズの授業で、生徒たちは平和と紛争について学びそこで、改めて平和の大切さそして難しさを学んできました。このように、世界平和のために尽力される方と話す素晴らしい機会を得ることができ、より深く考えを及ぼすことができたと思います。
